What is the Twitter Image Downloader?

The Twitter Image Downloader saves the photos attached to a public X (Twitter) post. You paste the post link and get each image, up to four per post, as its own file at the largest size X stores, with the original width and height listed so you know what you will get.

The timeline shows resized copies that fit your screen, and saving with a long press often keeps one of those smaller copies. The tool asks X's image server for the largest version it keeps of each photo, rather than the copy your feed shows, and the full-screen viewer lists its width and height.

Posts that mix photos with a video or GIF show every item. Under the post, each photo gets its own button (Image 1, Image 2 and so on), and the arrows in the full-screen viewer step through them in order.

Who uses it

  • Photographers recovering their posts

Pull back a photo you posted on X when the original is no longer on your phone.

  • Reporters and fact-checkers

Save the exact image from a public post, with its author and date, before the post is edited or deleted.

  • Designers collecting references

Keep a clean copy of a reference image instead of a blurry screenshot.

What this tool can't do

  • Photos in protected accounts, direct messages and deleted posts can't be reached.
  • It can't make a photo bigger than the version X stores. Small uploads stay small.
  • Profile pictures and header banners aren't part of a post. The Twitter Profile Picture Downloader handles profile pictures.
  • There is no download-all button, so photos are saved one at a time.
  • Up to 30 new lookups a day per visitor. For more, use the API.

If something goes wrong

Only one photo shows
Check that you pasted the link of the post itself. Extra photos are sometimes in replies, which have their own links.
The photo is smaller than expected
Compare it with the size listed in the viewer. If the uploader posted a small image, X has nothing larger.
Nothing is found for the link
The post may be deleted, protected or marked sensitive. Open it on X to confirm it still loads, then copy its link again.
