How to download an Instagram video

Step 1
Copy the post link
In the Instagram app, tap the paper-plane icon under the video and choose Copy link. On a computer, click the three dots above the post and choose Copy link.
Step 2
Paste it and press Download
Post (/p/), reel (/reel/) and older IGTV (/tv/) links all work. Anything after a question mark in the link is ignored.
Step 3
Find the video
The player opens on the first item. In an album, use the arrows or the All items strip to reach the video you want.
Step 4
Save the MP4
Press Download video, or MP4 under an album item. On iPhone, open the file from Safari's downloads, tap Share and choose Save Video.

What is the Instagram Video Downloader?

The Instagram Video Downloader turns the link of a public Instagram post, reel or IGTV video into an MP4 file you can save. It opens the post as a logged-out visitor, lists every video in it, including each video inside an album, and shows the cover, caption, counts and posting date next to the download button.

Instagram sends a list of media files with every public post page. A single video post holds one MP4. An album can mix photos and videos, so each item gets its own button: MP4 for a video, JPG for a photo. The resolution line shows the width and height Instagram reports for the video, and the file is the one Instagram serves, not re-encoded or upscaled.

The file link is signed by Instagram and expires within a few days, so save the video soon after the lookup. If a saved link stops working, paste the post again for a fresh one. Reel links work here too; the Instagram Reels Downloader adds the reel's length, a sound check and the song name.

What this tool can't do

Private accounts, stories, highlights, live broadcasts and direct messages can't be loaded.
Age-restricted posts need a logged-in adult account on Instagram, so they don't load here.
Download links expire within a few days. Paste the post again for a fresh link.
Videos come as Instagram serves them. Nothing is converted, trimmed or upscaled.

If something goes wrong

This account is private: Only public posts work. If the post doesn't open in a private browser window without logging in, the tool can't open it either.
Post not found: The post was deleted or archived, or the link was cut off. Copy it again from the app.
Only a photo shows up: That post has no video. Check the other album items, or use the Instagram Photo Downloader for the image.
The saved link stopped working: Instagram's file links expire after a few days. Paste the post link again to get a new one.
Instagram is busy: Instagram sometimes slows down logged-out visitors. Wait a minute and try again.

Can I download one video from an Instagram album?

Yes. Every item of the album is listed, and each video has its own MP4 button, so you can save one without the rest.

Does it work with old IGTV links?

Yes. Links with /tv/ in them still point to the video, and the tool handles them like any other video post.

What resolution will the video be?

The version Instagram serves to logged-out viewers. The result shows the width and height Instagram reports, and the tool doesn't upscale or re-encode the file.

Can I download an Instagram live video?

Not while it is live. If the creator shares the replay as a post or reel afterwards, paste that link like any other video.

Why does the download link stop working after a while?

Instagram signs each file link and lets it expire within a few days. Paste the post link again to get a fresh one.

Will the creator know I downloaded their video?

No. The lookup isn't linked to any Instagram account, and nothing is sent to the creator.

Is it legal to download Instagram videos?

Saving a public video to watch offline is common, but the creator keeps the copyright. Reposting it or using it commercially needs their permission. Read our copyright policy.
