What is the Instagram Profile Picture Downloader?

The Instagram Profile Picture Downloader saves an account's profile picture, often called the DP or PFP, as a JPG. You enter a username or profile link; it returns the picture at the largest size Instagram shows logged-out visitors, often 150 × 150 or 320 × 320 pixels, with its measured size, the name, counts and bio.

Instagram keeps larger copies of profile pictures, but it serves them only to its logged-in apps. A logged-out visitor gets a small copy: in our tests, 150 × 150 pixels for business and creator accounts and 320 × 320 for most personal accounts. The tool loads the largest copy it can get and measures the image in your browser, so the size under the picture is the real one, not a label.

Below the picture, circles at 96, 64, 40 and 28 pixels show how it looks as the small round avatar people see next to posts and comments. That helps when you check your own picture: a busy photo that looks fine large can turn into a blur at 28 pixels.

Who uses it

  • Checking an account is real

Compare the picture with the one on a brand's or person's official profile before you reply to a message or an offer.

  • Testing your own picture

See how your picture reads as a tiny circle next to comments, and decide whether it needs a simpler crop.

  • Reporting impersonators

Save the real account's picture as evidence when you report a copycat profile that reuses it.

What this tool can't do

  • The picture is as large as Instagram shows logged-out visitors, often 150 × 150 or 320 × 320 pixels. Larger copies go only to Instagram's logged-in apps.
  • Old profile pictures can't be retrieved. Instagram keeps only the current one.
  • Story rings, highlight covers and posts are not part of the result.
  • It needs a username. It can't find accounts by name, photo, email or phone number.
  • Up to 30 new lookups a day per visitor. For more, use the API.

If something goes wrong

User not found
Check the spelling. Usernames have no spaces and can contain dots and underscores. If the account was renamed, you need the new name.
The picture looks small
That is the size Instagram serves without a login, often 150 × 150 pixels for business and creator accounts. The number under the picture is the real size.
You pasted a post link
Links with /p/ or /reel/ point to posts. Enter the account's username instead.
A grey default avatar shows
The account has no profile picture set, so there is nothing else to show.

Instagram Profile Picture Downloader FAQ

Why isn't the profile picture 1080 × 1080 pixels?

Instagram serves larger copies only to its logged-in apps. Logged-out visitors get a small copy, often 150 × 150 pixels for business and creator accounts and 320 × 320 for most personal accounts, and the tool shows the exact size it received.

What do DP and PFP mean?

Both mean profile picture. DP is short for display picture and PFP for profile picture.

Will the person know I saved their profile picture?

No. Instagram doesn't notify anyone when their profile picture is viewed or saved, and the lookup isn't linked to an Instagram account.

Can I see someone's old profile picture?

No. Instagram keeps only the current picture, so earlier ones can't be retrieved.

Can I zoom in on a profile picture?

You can open it in a new tab and zoom in your browser, but zooming adds no detail. The picture has only the pixels shown under it, often 150 × 150 or 320 × 320.

Can I use someone's profile picture as my own?

No. Using someone's picture to pose as them breaks Instagram's rules and can be illegal. Keep saved pictures for personal reference. Acceptable use policy.
