What is the Pinterest Video Downloader?

The Pinterest Video Downloader saves the video from a public Pinterest pin. You paste the pin link, either a pinterest.com/pin address or a pin.it short link from the app, and get the video as an MP4 file along with its cover image, title, description, pinner, board and the website the pin links to.

Pinterest keeps each video pin in two forms: a streaming playlist for its own player and plain MP4 files. A streaming playlist can't be saved as one file, so the tool skips it and returns the largest MP4. For most video pins that file is 720 pixels wide, so a phone-shaped pin comes out at 720 x 1280.

Share links from the app (pin.it/...) are followed to the pin before the lookup, so you can paste them as they are. The source link under the buttons points to the page the pin was saved from, usually the quickest way to find and credit the creator.

Who uses it

  • Home cooks saving recipes

Keep a recipe video on your phone and follow it in the kitchen without scrolling the app.

  • Creators reusing their own pins

Get back a video you pinned when the original file is no longer on your device.

  • Marketers reviewing trends

Save examples of video pins in your niche for a team review, with the source link kept.

What this tool can't do

  • Multi-page Idea Pins may return only their cover image, because their videos are stored in a different format.
  • Pins on secret boards, deleted pins and ads can't be loaded.
  • The video keeps the resolution Pinterest stores. Nothing is upscaled.
  • It doesn't extract the audio or convert to MP3.
  • Up to 30 new lookups a day per visitor. For more, use the API.
