What is the Twitch Channel Viewer?

The Twitch Channel Viewer looks up a Twitch channel by name and shows its current state without a Twitch account. You enter the channel name and get its follower count, Partner or Affiliate status, join date, description and banner, plus whether it is live, with the stream title, category and viewers, or details of the last stream.

The viewer asks Twitch's public data for the channel and shows what comes back. If a stream is running, you see its title, category, viewer count and start time. If not, you see the start time, title and category of the most recent broadcast. Times are shown in your browser's time zone.

Twitch shares when a stream started, not when it ended, so an offline channel shows the start of its last broadcast. Follower counts appear rounded; on a computer, hover the number to see the full figure. Subscriber counts are private on Twitch and never appear.

Who uses it

  • Fans checking before they tune in

See whether a streamer is on, what they are playing and when the stream started.

  • Brands vetting streamers

Check follower count, Partner status and channel age before a sponsorship.

  • Editors and moderators

Confirm the title and start time of the last stream when planning clips or schedules.

What this tool can't do

  • It shows current numbers only, not follower history or growth charts.
  • Subscriber counts are private on Twitch and can't be shown.
  • The live status is from the moment of the lookup. A channel checked recently may show that earlier result for a while, so check again if a stream just started.
  • It doesn't send alerts when a channel goes live.
  • Up to 30 new lookups a day per visitor. For more, use the API.

If something goes wrong

Channel not found
Check the spelling. Twitch names are 3 to 25 letters, numbers or underscores, and banned or deleted channels return nothing.
No last broadcast shows
The channel may never have streamed, or Twitch keeps no record of a recent stream.
The status looks out of date
A recent lookup of the same channel may have been reused. Try again in a little while.

Use it responsibly

The tool shows only what Twitch shows to anyone who isn't logged in. Use what you see for research, planning and your own records, and respect people's privacy. Is this your account? Request removal.

Twitch Channel Viewer FAQ

How do I check if a Twitch streamer is live?

Enter the channel name and press Check channel. A LIVE label with the stream title, category and viewer count means the stream was running when the lookup ran.

When was a streamer last live?

If the channel is offline, the result shows when the last broadcast started, with its title and category. Twitch doesn't share when it ended.

Is the time shown in my time zone?

Yes. Stream start times use the time zone your browser is set to.

Can I see a streamer's subscriber count?

No. Twitch keeps subscriber numbers private. Follower counts are public, and the viewer shows them.

What do Partner and Affiliate mean?

Both are Twitch programs that let streamers earn money. Affiliate is the first level; Partner is the higher tier Twitch grants to larger channels.

How old is a Twitch channel?

The result shows the month and year the account was created, next to Joined.

Do I need a Twitch account?

No. Any channel can be checked without logging in.
