What the TikTok Video Comments Scraper API does
The TikTok Comments Scraper API returns top-level comments on a public TikTok video in TikTok's relevance order, up to 100 per request. Each comment has its text, like count, reply count, time in ISO 8601, detected language, an attached image URL for image comments, the commenter and two flags that matter for creator research: whether the creator pinned the comment and whether the creator liked it. The video's total comment_count is included too. Send the full video URL or the numeric ID as a string. Replies are not included, and TikTok hides some comments, so fewer than comment_count can come back. Use it to read audience reactions, find product questions and check engagement quality. Each request costs 1 credit.
What you get
Top-level fields of the response. Every field is typed and documented; nullable fields are null when the platform does not show them.
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
video_id | string | Video ID |
comment_count | integer | null | Total comments on the video as reported by TikTok |
comments | array<object> (10 fields each) | Top-level comments in TikTok's relevance order, max limit |
comments_fetched | integer | Number of comments returned |
has_more | boolean | More comments exist beyond those returned |

Use cases
- Run sentiment analysis on comments under sponsored or launch videos.
- Find product questions and complaints in comment sections.
- See which comments creators pin or like to understand how they engage with their audience.
Limitations: Unofficial API: not affiliated with or endorsed by the platform. Public data only, as a logged-out visitor sees it. The videos endpoint returns the newest publicly visible videos (up to 12); private, removed or region-restricted videos are missing.
- Replies are not included; reply_count shows how many each comment has.
- TikTok hides some comments, so fewer than comment_count may be returned.
- A video with comments turned off returns 404 with code COMMENTS_DISABLED. A video without comments returns an empty list.
- Short share links (vm.tiktok.com, vt.tiktok.com, tiktok.com/t/...) are resolved to the video first. Send id as a string.
Questions
Are replies included?
No. The endpoint returns top-level comments only; reply_count shows how many replies each comment has.
Why do I get fewer comments than comment_count?
TikTok hides some comments, so fewer than the total may be returned. Up to 100 are returned per request.
What if comments are turned off?
You get 404 with code COMMENTS_DISABLED. A video that simply has no comments returns an empty list.
How much does the TikTok Video Comments Scraper API cost?
1 credit per successful request. Credits are bought in one-time packs and never expire. New accounts get 100 free credits. No payment details needed.
Am I charged for failed requests?
No. If the platform blocks the request, it times out or something fails on our side, the credits are refunded automatically. A definitive answer such as "this account does not exist" is billed because the lookup completed.
Can I re-read a result without paying again?
Yes. Send cache_days (1 to 14) and a repeat request for the same target within that window is served from your cache for free.
