What is the YouTube Upload Date Checker?
The YouTube Upload Date Checker shows the exact moment a YouTube video or Short was published. Paste the link and you get the date and time to the second in UTC and in your own time zone, the day of the week, how long ago it was, and the ISO 8601 and Unix timestamps.
YouTube's watch page shows only a date, such as Apr 23, 2005, or a rough age like 3 weeks ago. The video's public page data holds more: the publish time to the second with a time-zone offset, for example 2005-04-23T20:31:52-07:00 for Me at the zoo. The checker reads that value as a logged-out visitor and converts it to UTC and to your browser's time zone.
This is the publish time YouTube stores, which is not always when the file was uploaded. For a video that was scheduled, premiered or uploaded as private and made public later, it is usually the moment the video went public.
The same moment can fall on different dates around the world. Me at the zoo went up on the evening of April 23, 2005 in California, which was already April 24 in UTC. That is why the date here can be a day off from the one YouTube shows you.
Who uses it
Journalists and fact-checkers
Record when this copy of a video went public and cite it in UTC. Older copies may exist on other channels.
Settling who posted first
Compare the exact publish times of two videos down to the second.
Creators planning a schedule
See at what hour channels in your niche publish, converted to your own time zone.
Fans and archivists
Note the exact release time of a music video, trailer or announcement.
What this tool can't do
- It shows the publish time YouTube stores. For scheduled videos and premieres that is when the video went public, not when the file was uploaded.
- It checks single videos. It cannot show when a channel was created.
- Edits after publishing, such as a new title, do not change the date and are not shown.
- Private and deleted videos cannot be checked.
- Up to 30 new lookups a day per visitor. For more, use the API.
If something goes wrong
- The date is a day off from YouTube
- YouTube shows the date in one time zone and this page leads with UTC. Check the Your time row.
- Only a date, no time
- Rarely, YouTube shares only the date for a video. The page then says so and shows no time.
- Video not found
- The video is private, deleted or the link is mistyped. Open it on YouTube first.
- Wrong link type
- Paste a link to one video or Short, not a channel or playlist.
Where to find a YouTube video's date
| Where you look | What it shows | Time zone |

| Watch page description | The date, or an age such as 3 weeks ago | Not stated |
| Search results and channel pages | Age only, such as 2 years ago | None |
| This tool | Date and time to the second, ISO 8601 and Unix timestamp | UTC and your own time zone |

YouTube Upload Date Checker FAQ
How can I see exactly when a YouTube video was uploaded?
Paste the link above. You get the publish time to the second, in UTC and in your time zone.
Is this the upload time or the publish time?
It is the publish time YouTube stores. For scheduled videos and premieres that is usually when the video went public, not when the file was uploaded.
Why does the date differ from what YouTube shows?
The same moment can fall on different days in different time zones. Me at the zoo went public on the evening of April 23, 2005, Pacific time, which was already April 24 in UTC.
Can I check a Short or a live stream?
Yes. Shorts, live replays and youtu.be links all work.
Can I check deleted or private videos?
No. The video must be public, or unlisted with the link.
Can I see when a YouTube channel was created?
Not with this tool, which checks individual videos. YouTube shows a channel's join date in its About panel.
What is a Unix timestamp?
The number of seconds since January 1, 1970 in UTC. Databases, spreadsheets and code use it to store exact times.
For developers
Need this for many links?
The same data as JSON from one request. Use it on hundreds of links from your own code, a spreadsheet or n8n.
curl -X POST https://api.scrapeeverything.com/v1/youtube/video \
-H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url":"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQXAC9IVRw"}'Not a developer? Fill a Google Sheet or use the n8n workflow with the same API key.
