What the YouTube Playlist Scraper API does

The YouTube Playlist Scraper API returns a public YouTube playlist by URL or ID: title, description, owner channel, thumbnail, the exact number of videos and total views, plus the videos themselves in playlist order, up to 100 per request. Each video has its ID, link, title, channel, view count, relative publish time, duration and thumbnail, and a flag for videos that are live right now. Send a playlist URL, any YouTube link with a list= parameter or a playlist ID (PL..., OLAK5uy_..., UU...). Video view counts are YouTube's rounded figures, while the playlist's own view and video counts are exact. Unavailable videos are hidden by YouTube, so a page can hold fewer than 100. Each request costs 1 credit.

Use cases

  • Index course, tutorial and series playlists to feed into transcript pipelines.
  • Monitor curated playlists and detect which videos are added or removed.
  • Report total playlist views and video counts for content series.

Limitations: Unofficial API: not affiliated with or endorsed by the platform. Public data only, as a logged-out visitor sees it. Counts can be YouTube's rounded figures; comments are top-level only; transcripts exist only for videos with captions.

  • Returns the first page of the playlist (up to 100 videos). Unavailable videos are hidden by YouTube, so a page can hold fewer than 100.
  • Video view counts are YouTube's rounded figures (for example 4.4M); playlist view and video counts are exact.
  • Returns 404 when the playlist does not exist or is private.

Questions

How many videos are returned?

The first page of the playlist, up to 100 videos (default 50). Unavailable videos are hidden by YouTube, so fewer can come back.

Do private playlists work?

No. Private or non-existent playlists return 404.

Are the counts exact?

The playlist's view_count and video_count are exact. View counts of the individual videos are YouTube's rounded figures, for example 4.4M.

How much does the YouTube Playlist Scraper API cost?

1 credit per successful request. Credits are bought in one-time packs and never expire. New accounts get 100 free credits. No payment details needed.

Am I charged for failed requests?

No. If the platform blocks the request, it times out or something fails on our side, the credits are refunded automatically. A definitive answer such as "this account does not exist" is billed because the lookup completed.

Can I re-read a result without paying again?

Yes. Send cache_days (1 to 14) and a repeat request for the same target within that window is served from your cache for free.
